A Life - A Poem
A LIFE
What is a life: without sunshine streaming through
a leafy tree outside your window, without the easy
laughter of children made happy by the sight of a
squirrel in the yard, without the night breezes
flowing through a window screen while the moon
grins above, without a place to run free; no need
for cyclone fences or ugly concrete;
the dangers simple ones put there by Nature for a
purpose; no strangers peering in, no nosy neighbors
or prying relatives – this is not a life! (written
in the '80s when we lived in a trailer park)
